Our History
The Independence Hub began on a walk. Belinda was grumbling about losing sleep the night before; you see her three year old LOVED her pull ups and wasn’t interested in using the toilet. So that night, Belinda had drawn on her skills as an occupational therapist and made her youngest a personalised story about going to the toilet. She’d been avoiding making one- because let’s be honest, what mumma has time?
As was the case with her older children and many other families they have both worked with, the personalised story was the missing link. Little Miss 3 saw herself as the star of the story and had her toileting confidence sparked.
Future walks involved dreaming about creating a platform where caregivers could easily create personalised books and videos to ignite confidence and empower independence.
Meet Belinda
and Alex
Belinda and Alex are friends, founders, and Occupational Therapists at The Independence Hub.
Belinda
Belinda has been an OT for 20 years and passionately celebrates bringing out the best in every child. She is also mum to four little humans, and has seen first hand the sparks of joy children and caregivers get from achieving big and little milestones. More than anything, Belinda wants to make parenting that tiny bit easier which is why she co-founded The Independence Hub.
Alex
After graduating and working as a pediatric OT for eight years, Alex has started her own mobile therapy business, supporting children, teens and young adults to master any activity that makes life easier or more meaningful. She is passionate about empowering caregivers with knowledge and strategies to support their children, so co-founding The Independence Hub just made sense.
